Education
ALIGN: religious leaders and comprehensive sexuality education
Examining how Muslim religious leaders shape the delivery of comprehensive sexuality education in Sierra Leone.
ALIGN is an initiative by ODI that focuses on identifying and addressing the influence of key actors who restrict gender equality. A primary focus of the programme is comprehensive sexuality education (CSE), an area significantly shaped by these actors.
The study, led by IfD, concentrates on the impact of Muslim religious leaders on CSE. It builds on previous work including Yillah et al. (2023), which examined the perspectives of religious leaders on sexual and reproductive health, and extends it to a group whose views on adolescent health education have been less well documented.
