Built to be usable by everyone.
Including people using screen readers, keyboard navigation, magnification, or a slow mobile connection.
The standard we target
This site aims to meet WCAG 2.1 Level AA. In practice that means:
- Text can be zoomed and resized on any device; pinch-zoom is never disabled.
- Every meaningful image carries alternative text. Our content system rejects an image without it.
- Colour is never the only way information is conveyed, and text meets AA contrast in both light and dark themes.
- The whole site works by keyboard, and focus is always visible.
- Headings follow a real document structure rather than being chosen for their size.
- Animation respects the
prefers-reduced-motionsetting.
Performance as accessibility
Most of our audience is in Sierra Leone, on mobile data. A heavy page is an inaccessible page. We hold the site to a page-weight budget and ship no JavaScript on pages that do not need it.
Known limitations
Documents published as PDFs may not meet the same standard as the pages around them, because many were produced by partners. If you need a report in an accessible format, ask us and we will provide one.
Reporting a problem
If something on this site is difficult or impossible for you to use, please tell us atinfo@ifdsl.org or on+232 76 582172. Describe the page and what happened, and we will fix it and reply to you.
