The National Evidence Summit (NES) brings together researchers, policymakers, practitioners, young people and communities to share evidence and shape Sierra Leone's future. NES 2027 is convened by the Institute for Development together with national and international partners.

NES 2027 will take place on 24th to 25th February 2027 at Freetown City Council, 17 Wallace Johnson Street, Freetown. It is a hybrid conference, so you can join us in person or online.

This year's theme is Shuku Blai: What should Sierra Leone carry forward?

The shuku blai is a traditional woven basket used to carry valuable items. At NES 2027, we will ask what evidence, ideas, practices and lessons we should carry into Sierra Leone's future, and how we can carry them together.

More details on the programme, speakers and how to take part will be shared soon.

To find out what happened at last year's Summit, read the NES 2026 conference report.
