Accelerating Impact for Young Women (AIM)
Learning partner to BRAC on a programme equipping adolescent girls and young women with entrepreneurship, employability and life-skills training.
IfD is working with BRAC as its learning partner on the Accelerating Impact for Young Women (AIM) programme in Sierra Leone. The programme aims to empower adolescent girls and young women by providing them with age-appropriate entrepreneurship, employability and life-skills training, along with the tools needed to start and grow their own businesses.
The initiative aims to drive positive change, identify opportunities for improvement, and contribute to the broader understanding of youth empowerment and poverty alleviation in Africa.
Within AIM, IfD carried out a study of participants’ journeys with the programme’s first cohort (2024), a qualitative study of its third cohort (2025), and research on young women’s move into microfinance. The partnership continues in AIM 2026: young women’s livelihood pathways.
